The deadline is the responsibility of the state government. Changes to daylight saving time can be made by regulation. Legislation to harmonize NSW Daylight Saving Time with the south east states and the ACT was passed by the NSW Parliament on 23 October 2007.
History of Daylight Saving Time in New South Wales
Daylight Saving Time operated nationwide during World War I, from January 1, 1917 to March 25, 1917, and during World War II for three consecutive summers, beginning January 1, 1942. Summer time was reintroduced in New South Wales for the third time on 31 October 1971, after the New South Wales Parliament passed the Standard Time Act 1971. A referendum held on 1 May 1976 proposed that summer time of summer was permanent. The ballot read: “At present, there is a period commonly referred to as 'Daylight Saving Time' for one hour for the period commencing on the last Sunday in October of each year and ending on the first Sunday in March from now on, as voters have been asked to answer YES or NO to the question: Are you in favor of DST? 1,882,770 voters were in favor, 868,900 against and 35,507 votes were informal Savings Regulations 2008, drafted under the Daylight Saving Act 2007. Since April 2008, Daylight Savings Time has been synchronized in Tasmania, New South Wales, Victoria, ACT and South Australia, although South Australia is over half an hour behind Australia's Central Standard Time all year round.
What is the correct daylight saving time (with or without the "s" at the end)? The correct spelling in Australia is without the 's'.
